Ängsgården invests in a solar energy system
In late March, a new solar energy system was installed at Ängsgården. The installation is the largest solar energy project completed by Bjäre Kraft to date. A total of 644 solar panels were mounted on east- and west-facing roof sections, with a capacity of 254.38 kW and an estimated annual production of approximately 226,000 kWh.
Ängsgården operates a modern farming business with a strong focus on creating sustainable and long-term value. One of the operation’s key challenges is finding innovative solutions to manage increasingly variable weather conditions, including fluctuations in rainfall and periods of drought.
“With the solar energy system, combined with our own water supply, we have created greater flexibility and a higher degree of self-sufficiency in our operations. We can power our water pumps using electricity that we generate ourselves,” says Rikard Jönsson, CEO of Ängsgården.
The installation also provides a form of protection against rapid fluctuations in electricity prices. By both purchasing and selling electricity during periods of varying prices, Ängsgården can achieve a more stable cost profile throughout the year and gain greater predictability regarding energy expenses.
“The solar energy system helps us better understand our electricity consumption. It is a tool that enables us to improve energy efficiency and increase our level of self-sufficiency. It also prepares us for the next stage of technological development, as we are keen to explore future energy storage solutions,” Rikard Jönsson continues.
