Bjäre Invest – a group that combines business success with societal value
With its roots in north-west Skåne and a clear focus on the future, Bjäre Invest is a business group active across several key sectors of the economy. The Group’s core areas include machinery rental, land and real estate development, trade, agriculture, healthcare, and golf resorts, and its portfolio comprises both wholly owned and partly owned companies, as well as holdings in associated companies.
Among the businesses within the Group are well-known companies such as Willab, Kranpunkten, Carepa, Ängsgården, The National, Ekerum Resort, Victoria Strand, and Peritus Clinic, all examples of businesses that combine entrepreneurship, quality, and a long-term perspective.
Bjäre Invest is wholly owned by the family-owned holding company Ekhaga Utveckling AB, which has a long tradition of combining commercial success with social responsibility.
Ekhaga’s ownership philosophy is characterised by long-term commitment, responsibility, and active engagement, but also by a strong ambition to contribute to positive societal development. Through various initiatives and foundations, the Group works actively to create value beyond its commercial operations.
From business success to societal benefit
A clear expression of this commitment is the three Mats Paulsson Foundations:
The Mats Paulsson Foundation for Research, Innovation and Societal Development
The Mats Paulsson Foundation
The Stefan Paulsson Cancer Foundation
The foundations share a common mission: to support initiatives that promote people’s health and quality of life. The grants awarded are funded through the returns generated by the foundations’ capital, capital that was originally established when Mats Paulsson donated private shares in Peab at the time of the foundations’ formation.
Since then, the foundations’ assets have grown over the long term through prudent investments and additional donations, enabling continued support for research, innovation, societal development, health, and quality of life.
A cycle that creates lasting value
The profits generated by the Group’s companies are transformed into dividends, which in turn contribute to the work of the foundations and create benefits for society and people’s well-being.
As an employee within the Ekhaga Group, you are therefore part of something larger: a cycle in which business success creates resources that improve lives, strengthen research, and support long-term development.
This year, the Mats Paulsson Foundations are awarding SEK 19 million to eight leading life science research projects in Lund and Malmö. The projects cover areas ranging from advanced cancer therapies and e-health solutions to groundbreaking diagnostics for Alzheimer’s disease. At the same time, a new scientific award, the Göran Grosskopf Award for Scientific Excellence, has been established in honour of the foundations’ former chairman and his long-standing commitment to research and the development of Medicon Village in Lund.
