Kranpunkten expands with a new depot in Luleå
The green transition of industry in northern Sweden is driving major investments in new and upgraded facilities for fossil-free production. With a strong focus on sustainability and a growing number of projects in northern Sweden, Kranpunkten aims to play an active role in this transformation. As a result, the company opened its ninth depot in Luleå in April 2024.
Kranpunkten is one of Sweden’s leading providers of lifting equipment rental services for the construction and industrial sectors. Today, the company operates eight depots, stretching from Malmö to Uppsala, while serving customers and projects across the country. As the number of projects in northern Sweden continues to increase, Kranpunkten is strengthening its presence in the region through a new depot and local organisation in Luleå. The facility, located in the Gammelstad industrial area, became operational during April.
The green industrial transformation taking place in Norrbotten and Västerbotten is acting as a catalyst for climate transition and the development of a more circular economy. For Kranpunkten, which has long been committed to becoming climate neutral by 2030, the market conditions in northern Sweden align closely with the company’s long-term strategy.

With 35 years of industry experience, Kranpunkten has built extensive technical expertise and a fleet of more than 4,400 machines. The company’s sustainability ambitions have contributed to the rapid transition of its fleet, with 85 per cent of all machines now powered by electricity or hybrid technology. This enables Kranpunkten to provide customers with large volumes of equipment that offer a significantly lower climate impact.
From its new base in Luleå, Kranpunkten will be able to support both small and large-scale projects across northern Sweden. A particular focus will be placed on making electric and hybrid-powered equipment available to customers according to project requirements.

Through our expertise and capacity, we take responsibility throughout the value chain and support our customers in their transition towards more sustainable construction processes. This is our first establishment in northern Sweden, and future expansion will be guided by customer demand and market needs,” Thomas Eriksson continues.
