The National becomes part of the development company behind the new Wärby Resort in Bara
Together with Peab and Ästad Vingård, The National is part of a joint development company planning a new resort destination in Bara, Municipality of Svedala. With a strong focus on locally sourced produce, spa experiences, and close proximity to the Scanian countryside, plans are now taking shape for Wärby Resort.
The new resort will be developed adjacent to the historic Spångholmsgården estate, located next to The National. The property possesses unique heritage values and will contribute both character and identity to the future destination. For The National, the project represents an exciting opportunity to strengthen its customer offering while creating synergies and future opportunities within hotel, restaurant, and leisure operations.
“Today, we operate two championship-standard golf courses, a golf hotel with 40 beds, a restaurant and golf shop, as well as one of Sweden’s leading training facilities. By becoming part of an expanding resort destination, The National will evolve into a complete destination with several strong business pillars,” says Jonas Edberg, CEO of The National.
The National has taken a seat on the board of the new development company and is actively participating in the project team responsible for advancing the resort development. Wärby Resort is envisioned as part of a broader destination focused on attractive experiences and hospitality. Construction is planned to commence in 2025, with completion targeted for 2027.
The detailed planning process, which has now begun, will be carried out in several phases. The initial focus is on developing the resort itself, while later stages are intended to include infrastructure investments and further destination development in the surrounding area.
